I write this outside the campus of the University of Mixinar where the strange events surrounding the Matriarch concert culminated not half an hour ago. There is still a party atmosphere lingering in the wake of what has been dubbed The Concert of the Decade where the opening act almost took over the whole show by herself.
What began as a very conservative performance by an elegantly dressed, and tastefully dyed mauve, Lynsyl Xixin rapidly swerved out of control when parts of the audience in the more expensive seats decided that a classically trained singer wasn't exactly their cup of fizzy-pop and pursued the concession stands. Meanwhile, in the upper rows, which sold out the instant the news hit the streets that the former porn idol was opening the show, began jeering. Apparently, they weren't much interested in a classical singer either. Xixin appeared quite distraught by the turn of events and once nearly fled the stage. A young man from the front row then approached the stage. Xixin waved off the security detachment and greeted the man who kissed her hand. Image After that it was a whole new singer onstage.
Xixin launched into a technopop reworking of several century old Absoloni opera fragments showing off her magnificent voice, and worked herself out of her dress, showing off her other areas of excellence. When her set drew to a close the house was once again packed and cheering. She picked up her dress and quit the stage only to be called back, once again in her dress, for two encores. Not bad for the opening act.
When Matriarch finally took the stage a full half hour late, only in part due to the overrun from the show opener, they began with the huge hit from their last tour, Sekti's Kiss. During the instrumental portion, large chunks of the cheap seats began to vacate the Mixinar Royal Concert Hall. They'd already seen what they came for anyway. Ralyn Tepus, the lead singer known for her temper, stormed from the stage in disgust at the perceived affront. While the band frantically fell over themselves to get Ralyn's Sister, Dalyne, to the lead vocalist's station from her holoharp Xixin reappeared onstage to complete the song... in magnificent style. After the number Dalyne exchanged some abusives with her sister on the wings until Ralyn left the hall. Xixin huddled with the band and for the balance of the show she alternated with Dalyne at the voice amplifier. Although the concert lineup didn't exactly match the program, clearly because Xixin was most familiar with Matriarch's older material, the audience showed their approval forcing several encores and four curtain calls.
When asked about their lead singer Dalyne Tepus is quoted as saying, "We'll be holding auditions, it shouldn't take more than one."
After the show the press circus pursued the exhausted Xixin was carried to and rode in an older model sports coupe driven by Xixin's confidant and suspected lover Karmlyn Sen-Tiago in a harrowing ride through the streets of Mixinar. Image Upon their arrival at the university campus the car was ushered through a line of students into the central square. The students blocked any attempt by members of the press to enter the square chanting down with the paparazzi.
The only injury in the ruckus was a holographer who broke through the line and is now recovering from what has been described as a terrifyingly intrusive kiss administered by no less than Karmlyn Sen-Tiago possibly making her the most dangerous woman in the galaxy. Image Boys, this one's the one your mother warned you about. The reporter has decided not to pursue legal recourse for the assault. His manhood is likely bruised enough as it is, but imagine explaining to the judge, "Yes your honour, she kissed me and I passed out."
Xixin then fled with her entourage in a light freighter registered to Sen-Tiago. Absolutely no holo footage is available beyond the appearance of a woman positively identified as Islyne "Jinx" Jixsi at the ship's airlock. Image Jixsi, known for her paranormal abilities and recent modeling work for Hando, has also been linked to Sen-Tiago. A triangle thing amongst actresses, models and casino queens, hmm?
